Smith Fork Slot Canyon - Lake Powell

My parents joined us for a trip to our favorite boating destination, Lake Powell. We try to go around Mothers Day every year to keep Cindy and my mom off my back. It's a great time to go, the weather is great and the crowds are nowhere to be found. The fishing was a little slow this year so we decided to go for a hike up Smith Fork Canyon. This was a fun hike with beautiful scenery and a great slot canyon.

We arrived at the start of the slot canyon after a 100 yard swim from the boat and a 2 mile hike up the river bed.

Dad coming through the slot.

My feeble attempt at capturing the beauty of this place on film.

Cindy and Nick trying to climb out the back of the canyon.

Nick being cooled off with the cold sand.

Cindy, Mom and Dad returning after a great hike. The water was in the low 70's and felt good swimming back to the boat after a long hike.
